Three-dimensional printing of complex graphite structures

Graphite, with many industrial applications, is one of the widely sought-after allotropes carbon. Although geometric design graphite in applications could dictate its precision performance, conventional synthesis methods for formulating complex shapes are limited due to intrinsic brittleness and difficulties high-temperature processing. Here, we report development colloidal ink from commercial powders that allows fabrication any architectures tunable geometry directionality via 3D printing at room temperature. The method enabled using very small amounts clay as an additive, allowing proper graphite-based subsequent binding platelets during printing. Sheared layers easily able flow, adapt, interface forming strong between make larger structures. direct writing graphitic without further heat treatments lead easy shape engineering related various length scales. printed structures exhibit excellent thermal, electrical, mechanical properties, additive does not seem alter these properties inter-layer dispersion mixing within material.
